Q: I have a Hillsboro SR22 insurance policy, and I’ll be going out of state next year for school. How can I save money? Do I have to keep filing my SR22?

A: When you leave the state, although you may get a new driver’s license without restrictions over there, you are still under the same requirements for filing your Hillboro OR SR22, which must continue to be done with the state of Oregon.

As for saving money, there are a few ways for a college student, especially an out of state one, to save money on his or her Hillsboro SR22 car insurance premium. Since you’re going far, you could save most of your premium by getting on a policy with your parents and letting them keep your car at home with them. You would be able to use your car whenever you came back in state, and you would pay a very small amount for insurance.

If you don’t want to leave your car at home, you still have the good student discount for your Hillsboro SR22. Using this, you can get a big discount from many insurance companies just by making good grades in your college classes, so long as you’re a certain age and a full time student.
